Being With Jesus Mark 3:13-19 Pr Kelvin Yong | 25/26 June 2022 ================================ ## Big Idea: Be with Jesus, to be like Jesus - to the least and the lost. ## (Mark 3:13,14 NIV) Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach… # 1. Jesus’ ____________ (John 15:14 NIV) You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (Mark 3:34,35 NIV) Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (John 19:26,27 NIV) When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. * "Friendship is in the deepest heart of Christ and it’s at the very centre of the gospel." (Drew Hunter) # 2. Kingdom _____________ (Mark 4:11a NIV) He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you." (Mark 4:20 NIV) "Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” (Mark 4:26-28 NIV) He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head." (Mark 4:30-32 NIV) Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” * Kingdom disciples are to catch the kingdom vision and live lives that are defined and shaped by kingdom values. # 3. Transformed ________________ (Mark 3:16-19 NIV) These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (Mark 6:7 NIV) Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits. (Mark 6:12,13 NIV) They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. (Acts 4:13 NIV) When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. * God wants to draw people into His kingdom, to transform them into Christlikeness - to be His transformed disciple-makers. ## Big Idea: Be with Jesus, to be like Jesus - to the least and the lost. ##
